Fabrizio Romano transfer news: Patrick Dorgu, Christopher Nkunku, Alejandro Garnacho, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen
Top football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano highlighted the latest developments from the transfer market, with Manchester United and Chelsea aggressively pursuing deals, while Liverpool is striving to retain Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Manchester United are continuing to pursue Dorgu.
Manchester United have not been deterred by having their first two offers for Lecce's Patrick Dorgu rejected. The Red Devils remain keen on signing the Denmark international and are also looking at alternative options.
Antony's switched to Real Betis, meanwhile, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have been plagued by physical issues.
Amorim confirms Rashford is DONE at Manchester United with A SLATING that José Mourinho would be pleased with
Following two unsuccessful bids by Lecce in recent days, Manchester United are still in negotiations with Patrick Dorgu. He remains the targeted player.
There's also Alvaro Carreras, a former Manchester United player, whose release clause stands at approximately £15.8m. His former club are mindful of this option.
My understanding is that Manchester United are continuing to negotiate with Dorgu, they have a deal in place with the player, but it now hinges on the clubs coming to an agreement. Lecce are insisting on a fee of €40 million, however, Manchester United are attempting to incorporate add-ons into the deal to meet Lecce's requirements.
Mauledo Nkunku and Amadou Garnacho potentially to exchange roles.
A major Manchester United transfer rumour brewing reportedly involves a deal that could see Christopher Nkunku coming to the club from Chelsea and Alejandro Garnacho going in the opposite direction as part of the potential transfer arrangement.
Romano clarified the current situation regarding the transfer.
We've had hectic periods regarding Nkunku. Between Manchester United and Chelsea, there's absolutely nothing concrete on the cards. This was an idea floated by intermediaries back in December just before the official opening of the January transfer window," Romano explained. "I'm not convinced that Nkunku and Garnacho would be open to a temporary loan deal, so if that's the case, it would have to be a permanent move. This would likely be costly and might be complicated from a valuation perspective, so at the moment, I'm not aware of any solid plans.
He noted that there could be an alternative for Chelsea, with the French international opting to join Bayern Munich instead.
Nicolas Nkunku wouldn't have an issue moving to Bayern, but he's not been asked to leave as things stand, so it's up to Chelsea to make their decision.
For Bayern, the only way to make this deal work is if they offload Mathys Tel. If he opts for a new challenge however, this transfer could yet go ahead. Tel is reportedly a target for Chelsea, who hold him in high regard.
There's been a shift in circumstances. Tel hasn't seen game time in his last three appearances. We'll be expecting him to get some insight this time around.
We're still waiting to hear any formal proposal for Garnacho, although we're aware Napoli are showing an interest. However, we can only move forward if Manchester United alter their initial asking price for the player. As things stand, we can't honour a €70 million valuation, especially given Napoli have stated they will not exceed that amount.

There is a report that Liverpool have put a takeover deadlock on transfer talks with Trent.
Real Madrid have made a bid to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold this month, but the Englishman aren't interested in parting with him - particularly given he's out of contract in the summer. According to the latest, Liverpool are keen to keep hold of him right to the end of the transfer window.
It's anticipated that nothing will occur with Trent Alexander-Arnold" reported Romano. "Real Madrid first attempted to speak to Liverpool at the start of the transfer window, but they swiftly came to the understanding that Liverpool wouldn't be willing to engage in discussions if the proposed price wasn't around £22-£27 million.
Liverpool intend to retain Trent Alexander-Arnold's services and aim to extend his contract. However, they will face stiff competition from Real Madrid, who are apparently seeking his signature as a top priority this transfer season. Sources claim that Madrid are optimistic about securing Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer, despite Liverpool's efforts to hold onto him.
Huijsen is a leading target for Chelsea and many other clubs.
Romano claimed that numerous top clubs are tracking the progress of centre-back Dean Huijsen.
“Huijsen has been terrific at Bournemouth,” he noted. “What I can share with you today is that there's a get-out clause in the player's contract in the summertime.
“Several of the top clubs across the continent are well aware of the situation. He was a notable target for Paris Saint-Germain last summer before joining Bournemouth in a transfer that took an unexpected turn.”
Chelsea are very keen on the player. Chelsea consider Dean Huijsen to be a top-class talent. There's little doubt he's on their summer shopping list. Bournemouth will prove quite obstinate in letting go of their key players during the January window, though.
Bayern Munich have been in contact with Chelsea to find out about Leverkusen’s interest in them, but Chelsea are already taking a serious look at signing him.
