Stephen Fry makes Who Wants To Be A Millionaire history with major win thanks to Jeremy Clarkson
Aiding him on one question during the celebrity variant of the programme.
The revived edition, presented by Clarkson, introduced a new lifeline called "ask the host" when it was first presented on television in 2018.
In terms of the £500,000 question, he used a 'phone a friend' lifeline.
Clarkson described it as the "biggest celebrity win to date" since I started the show, saying it was a "whopping victory", after Sir Steve walked away with £250,000.
For the half-million pound question, Sir Stephen was asked what the longest time gap was between the original version and the cover version of a song, but quiz show host Osman was unable to provide assistance.
I must say I'm thoroughly pleased, not one bit of dissatisfaction from me," said Sir Stephen. "I had an absolutely cracking good time. The hours just flew by.

in 2005.
When he was asked which European city out of Brussels, Strasbourg, Munich and Luxembourg City he would come closest to if walking in a straight line from Paris to Berlin, Sir Stephen said: “Jeremy was very encouraging and handled the question well, steering me towards a quarter of a million.”
“It was a geographical question, and you had to figure it out for yourself. Jeremy has been to so many places, especially in the region that the question was about.”
He and I agreed it was either one of two possibilities, and I decided to take a chance, and it turned out to be correct.
This new feature is a really useful addition to the show. If Jeremy is unsure, he'll explain the thought process and it will give us more time to think. When you get to the high-stakes numbers, you don't want to let the charity down, so this is a helpful feature.
Regarding the £500,000 question, Osman "naturally couldn't" solve the lengthy question within the time allowed, according to Sir Stephen.
He mentioned: “I said: 'I am going to have to take the money'. Later, Jeremy asked: 'Which one would you have gone for?' and I said: 'B, Jonas Blue featuring Dakota', only because they're the most recent band, so they might be likely to be the biggest gap winner.

It's almost as bad getting it right as getting it wrong, because you'll think to yourself 'perhaps I should have been more confident'. Obviously, you can't compromise on something like that.
The question relates to the songs Tragedy by Steps, Fast Car covered by Jonas Blue and Dakota, Uptown Girl performed by Westlife, and Killing Me Softly With His Song popularised by the Fugees, which entered the UK charts’ top 40 for the longest duration after their original chart run.
Tragedy is the song from the iconic trio Bee Gees. Tracy Chapman's first single was her hit Fast Car, while Billy Joel released Uptown Girl, a classic. Killing Me Softly With His Song actually first appeared in the setlist of Lori Lieberman, followed by Roberta Flack's version.
Who he has been president of since 2011.
"They have caught the attention of a whole new demographic - both as something people support and, indeed, use its facilities and seek guidance on what it offers, particularly for those in a state of mental distress," Sir Stephen said.

It is extremely distressing to see so many young people feeling the need to self-harm, a sign of intense emotional anguish they're experiencing. Mind is an invaluable wealth of resources.
One of Sir Stephen's notable career highlights is his partnership in the comedy duo with actor Hugh Laurie, best known for his starring role in the medical drama series "House".
He was shortlisted for a Golden Globe for playing famous writer Oscar Wilde in the 1997 film Wilde and has spoken openly about his personal struggles with mental health issues and his subsequent diagnosis of bipolar disorder.
'A Brass Monkey' was an (original title provided) in 2006).
In the recent New Year Honours, he was granted a knighthood in recognition of his contributions to promoting mental health awareness, environmental conservation and charitable causes.
Additionally, television presenter Steph McGovern, Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke, and former Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh will join Clarkson in order to raise a million pounds for charity.
"Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" will be broadcast again this Sunday on ITV1 and ITVX.
